Harry Bosch is back and this time, the case takes a very personal turn.
When Harry is called out to solve a liquor store robbery and murder, his immediate thought is that it is probably a gang-related crime, given the store is in the middle of gang territory. But the crime scene looks like the murder may have been personal. And a surveillance video indicates the owner may have been paying protection money to the Chinese triad.
Then Harry hears from his ex-wife Eleanor who is living in Hong Kong with their 13-year-old daughter, Madeline. Maddie has been kidnapped and Harry is terrified the liquor-store robbery and his triad investigation may have lead to the abduction. Harry catches the next flight to Hong Kong determined to rescue his daughter, even if it means taking on the powerful and deadly triads of China.
This is non-stop, page-turning action. Once started, I didn’t put the book down until all of the twists had been unraveled and the last page was turned. Terrific! ~Patti
