Support Queen Anne's public middle school, McClure, by shopping between 3:00 and closing.

Queen Anne Books will make a donation for every purchase made during the
book fair. We will also have McClure Library's Wish Table on display;
we will give you 20% off any books you donate to the school from the
Wish Table.

This is great chance to get a big part of your holiday shopping done
(and do good in our community at the same time).

During the book fair, we will not be using Book Savers; we appreciate your understanding and support of McClure!

Saturday November 20, 2010
Start: Nov 20 2010 8:00 pm

For this meeting, we will discuss Dave Eggers' Zeitoun.

Be sure to join our Book Mixer
mailing list if you would like us to mail you an encouraging,
thought-provoking email while we're reading-- plus a reminder to come to
the discussion.

This no-guilt, drop-in group meets every other month, usually the last Saturday at 8:00pm.

Our book choices tend to be a little edgier than the traditional book
club fare, and our discussions are focused yet fun. After about an hour
talking about the book, most of us head to a bar or restaurant to
socialize. This helps us spend our book club time talking openly and
in-depth about the book, then gives us a great opportunity to bond with
fellow readers afterwards.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the discussion, and all are
encouraged to join us for social time after, too. Remember, they're
Saturday nights starting at 8:00.

(To sign up for our email list, you can sign up through the "Join our
free Email Mailing List" form on this site, or you can call, email us at
qaabooks@qwest.net, or come in and visit!)

With the holiday season in gear and dreary weather predicted for the winter, couldn't you use a pick-me-up event at the bookstore?  Put the rest of the world on hold and treat yourself to an evening with delightful novelist Lian Dolan (one of the Satellite Sisters).

Lian will read from and sign her fun new novel, Helen of Pasadena.

"With its keen social observations, laugh-out-loud scenes and whip-smart dialogue, Lian Dolan's Helen of Pasadena is a romantic comedy about a woman's quest to find balance, love and her true self."

We'll chat, we'll laugh, and we'll forget the to-do lists for an hour and a half.  Join us and enjoy!  (You just may discover that an autographed book is the perfect gift while you're at it.)

Wednesday December 08, 2010
Start: Dec 8 2010 6:15 pm

The author of Border Songs, Jim Lynch will be coming to the Wednesday, December 8th book club discussion! We will have a reception beginning at 6:15 pm where I will provide appetizers, sweets and drinks. This will also be your opportunity to have your book signed and meet Jim. Then we’ll begin our discussion at 6:45 and try to finish up around 7:45. What fun!

Join us in welcoming chef Ethan Stowell (How to Cook a Wolf, Staple & Fancy Mercantile, Anchovy & Olives, Tavolata)!

Stowell's new cookbook, Ethan Stowell's New Italian Kitchen, lets you taste the creativity, freshness, and inventiveness of his cuisine right in your own home.

At our event on Wednesday December 15, Ethan Stowell will talk about the book, give some cooking tips, provide us with treats to sample, and personalize copies of his cookbook.  Wouldn't an autographed copy make a perfect gift this holiday season?  Maybe one for yourself, too?
