It seems that once we get past Halloween we enter into the "getting ready for the holidays" and this is time we appreciate having a book to read that we can escape into and not have to think about all the metaphorical references and what it all means. This book will take you into the lives of three friends; Pen, Cat and Will who were very close during their college years, but have not seen/talked to one another for the past six years. Pen and Will both get a request to meet Cat at their ten-year college reunion. Each of their lives have had challenges, twists and turns during this period of time. The story explores very realistically how complex friendships and family relationships can be. A side benefit of the story is experiencing the beauty of the Philippines and the lovely descriptions of the country side and beaches. The story ends up being a "feel-good" book although there is a good share of heart ache and soul searching, which is certainly more true to life. ~Cindy
