Shortly after London has overthrown the Scriven -- a race of brilliant yet cruel genetic mutants -- an infant is discovered with nothing but a note stating, “My name is Fever.” She is found by Dr. Crumb who raises her among the Order of Engineers, a group that values rationality above all else. Now Fever is 14 and the city is under threat from a group of nomads called the Movement. When sent by the Engineers to work as an apprentice for archaeologist Kit Solent, Fever begins having flashes of memories that don’t seem to belong to her.

This is an exciting, funny, and sad book that will most definitely leave you wanting more when you reach the final page. Luckily there are more books to come! Fever Crumb is the first in a prequel series to the “Hungry City Chronicles," which I have not read. However, I loved this book and Reeve’s writing so much that I have added the series to my list of must reads. There are a few frightening moments, so I recommend this book for readers 11 and up. ~Torrie
