I have always loved memoirs (well, I should say well-written memoirs) and this is such a beautiful tribute to a remarkable friendship. Gail Caldwell and Caroline Knapp (Drinking a Love Story and Pack of Two) who are both well-known authors, bonded over their beloved dogs. They would regularly walk/run their dogs together. They taught each other their separate passions of swimming and rowing and shared a history of a struggle with alcohol abuse. Caroline died very young of lung cancer only a short while after being diagnosed.

This in not overly sentimental or maudlin; it is just simply a celebration of a wonderful friendship. I loved this book! ~Cindy
