The Fabulous Bouncing Chowder by Peter Brown. Brown is one of my favorite (and creative) contemporary picture book creators. He produced the original Chowder as well as the ever-popular, Flight of the Dodo. So pick up The Fabulous Bouncing Chowder and just try not to laugh out loud! Chowder, the irrepressible and lovable bulldog goes to the Fabu Pooch Boot Camp where dogs go "on field trips to dog shows and dog salons, and [where] they sharpened their skills in fabulousness." Chowder, as usual, doesn't quite fit in until he finds a trampoline behind the old barn. Hysterical! ~Patti

The Magic Rabbit is the first picture book by Annette LeBlanc Cate and it is a very sweet story about Ray and his best bud, Bunny. Ray is a street magician and Bunny is his stalwart assistant. But after an accident involving a juggler and his pub, Ray and Bunny become separated. Black and white pictures with just a few gold stars beautifully illustrate their adventure. ~Patti

Mind Your Manners B.B. Wolf by Judy Sierra and J. Otto Seibold is pretty much what you would expect from the talented pair. B.B. Wolf is invited to a tea at the library and, after getting a few tips from his friend crocodile, Wolf heads to town singing his mnemonic-device which should help him remember how to behave: "Sip your tea and never slurp, say 'Excuse Me' if you burp. Smile and have a lot of fun, but don't go biting anyone!" And B.B. Wolf does very well even though some old friends are also at the tea -- Red Riding Hood, Gingerbread Boy and a few little pigs. Very cute. ~Patti

Englebert Sneem and his Dream Vacuum Machineby Mr. Daniel Postgate is imaginative, wonderfully illustrated and just a little bit scary! Englebert Sneem has a machine which sucks up children's dreams which he then stores away for his own use. But the tables get turned when he captures a nightmare about a bad man vacuuming up the dreams of little children causing the Englebert to turn over a new leaf. Terrific for a little bit older fan. ~Patti
