This is one of those books that is so well worth reading but a bit hard to recommend.  It deals with mental illness, physical illness, death, grief, mourning, and healing but is also a beautiful love story detailing Kay’s marriage to Richard Wyatt.  Richard was a psychiatrist who specialized in treating and research with patients with schizophrenia.  Kay Jamison is the author of Unquiet Mind that came out a number of years ago detailing her own struggle with manic depression.  She is a well respected clinical psychologist, but has had many years of working hard to keep herself in balance.  The book is an honest look at the challenges and moments of despair for those experiencing a terminal illness and death and the grieving that continues for a long time into the future.  It may sound a bit “off” to say I loved reading this book, but I did.  I found it quite comforting and would recommend it to those who are open to reading about how mental illness can affect those who love them,  people facing terminal illnesses and those going through the grieving process. ~Cindy
