After a job loss and divorce, Adam Kindred has returned home to London for a fresh start.  At a cafe he strikes up a conversation with research scientist Phillip Wang, who is sitting at the next table.  Wang eventually leaves, and Adam later discovers he has left behind a file.  Adam decides to return the file but when he arrives at Wang’s apartment, he discovers Wang has been stabbed and the intruder is still there.  In a panic, Adam flees with the file.  After wandering aimlessly for a few hours, he decides to return home and contact the police.  Waiting for him, though, is an armed man, and he sees on the news that he is wanted for Wang’s murder.  Adam decides that the only way to survive, and perhaps discover the truth, is to disappear completely. That means no contact with anyone from his former life and no paper trail at all.  He begins living in the park and begging for money, and we are soon introduced to a cast of characters who reveal the truth behind the murder.  Adam is ultimately given a second chance at a more normal life, although not as the man he once was.  While Ordinary Thunderstorms is admittedly not as good as Restless (a store favorite), it is still a fast-paced, intriguing and satisfying read.  I really enjoyed it.
