Le Carre has written an intriguing novel about money laundering in the form of a Russian spy thriller. A very “normal” couple from London, Perry and Gail are on holiday in Antigua. They are befriended by the “desperate to defect” Dimitri, who has been a criminal since his youth and a major player in the world of Russian money laundering (of course Perry and Gail don’t know this about him at first). They are asked by Dimitri to contact MI5 in London. He wants to make a deal with the British government to give himself and his family asylum in exchange for giving all the information he has on who is involved in the world wide illegal money laundering racket. Perry and Gail get totally involved in the whole scheme and become part of the MI5 plan to help the family escape. A bit implausible, but hard to put down and the need to find out what happens keeps this a fast-paced, must-read-to-the-end thriller. ~Cindy
