I love this book and am really looking forward to selling it. This is the story of the love affair between Ernest Hemingway and his first wife Hadley. We all know that this marriage did not last, but getting to know the young Hemingway and Hadley is such a treat.

Hadley is 28-years old and Ernest is only 21 when they meet. After a whirlwind courtship and marriage, they move to Paris to be surrounded by all the young fascinating artists and authors in Jazz-Age 1920’s Paris. You will meet Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, and Ezra Pound, just to name a few. This book is from Hadley’s point of view and what it was like being married to such a talented, ambitious and complicated young man.

The author was inspired to find out more about the couple when reading A Moveable Feast which is about Ernest’s early years in Paris. In the final pages of that book Ernest writes of Hadley, “I wish I had died before I ever loved anyone but her.” This led Paula McLain to research biographies about Hadley and read hundreds of letters between the two. She said she was hooked from that point on and had to write a novel about the young Hemingways. ~Cindy
