The Smithfork children are happy that their father has found big success with his video game business, but what they are not happy about is that because of this they have to leave Brooklyn for Manhattan. Twelve-year-old CJ, his nine- year-old sister Brid, and their little brother Patrick are very unimpressed with their new home on Fifth Avenue that was once owned by the Post family. That is until they find part of a painting with a code in it behind a wall, and a very overdue library book. Suddenly, the Smithfork children find themselves on a fantastic treasure hunt searching for clues all over the city.

Maureen Sherry shows us New York's many personalities through poems, history, and sites. Oh and the codes, maps, hidden rooms, and a few mysterious characters are not to be forgotten. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. For ages 8-12. ~Mara
